Monster Rancher main characters

Monster Rancher

Genki Sakura

Genki is a young and energetic kid. He wins a copy of the video game and decides to play. However, once he plays, he gets sucked into the Monster Rancher world. He meets Holly and the monsters on his journey. Genki usually acts before thinking, and many fans find him annoying at times. His monster is Mocchi.

Holly

Holly is an intelligent girl. She has been living in the monster world for as long as she can remember, she was probably born in the monster world. She travels with a Suezo. She usually has to calm Genki down before he does something stupid. She is one of the only two main human characters, Genki is the other.

Suezo

Suezo is a character that seems to be put in for comic relief. He is not much of a fighter. He has ineffective moves, such as spitting and kissing. He usually gets angry and wants to fight someone, but loses miserably.

Tiger

Tiger used to be a thief. His band of thieves were killed by Moo. He is a sort of "dark hero." He has a good heart, however, he usually gets violent. His fighting style revolves around bestial attacks, such as clawing and biting. He appeared in Episode 5.

Mocchi

Mocchi is Genki's monster. He is the only monster that says his name. He doesn't say much anything else, unlike Suezo, Tiger, and Hare with full vocabularies. Mocchi is a small pink monster. He can curl into a ball and roll. He looks like a small Japanese sweet cake. Mocchi can talk, he says his name often and speaks softly because he is a baby monster. It is obvious if you listen closely to any episode, his two favorite words are "Mocchi" and "Hungry"

Hare

Hare (Ham in Japanese) is a flatulent humanoid rabbit that has a cute expression. He joined the cast of the anime series in Episode 6: Hare's Trick. In the anime, he always wears a red bandanna around his neck.

Hare is very popular in Japan, especially with girls because of his cute appearance and his cute attacks, such as his Fart attack. Though some people find "Fart" crude, lots of people, especially girls find it cute and funny. The attack was generally created for humor and efficiency. In America, however, Hare's Farts were cut out. The Farts were replaced with different attacks. Fart is an attack used at medium range and very dangerous.

Even though "Gas" seems like a joke attack, Hare's flatulence is often versatile and a useful attack. "Gas" even has uses outside of combat. He used it to save the Iron Bird. If it weren't for his smelly flatulence, the heroes would be dead. In the third season, Hare taught Tiger "Fart." Tiger used the ability to save the group. Farting is a great advantage Hare has. His farts are an instant lifesaver and can defeat enemies.

At first, Hare was exploiting the group. In "Hare's Trick" after Hare won the tournament, he acted like their friend, but then early in the morning, he ran off with both his prize money, and Tiger's. This infuriates the group and they track him down. Hare reluctantly surrenders Tiger's money and joins them officially. Hare does not do such cruel acts again, though he does like to bother Tiger for his own personal enjoyment.

Hare is the "brains of the bunch." He always plans the attacks. However, despite his intelligence he is also lazy. An example of his laziness is the fact that he always tries to get people to do work for him. His fighting style revolves around boxing and flatulence.

His basic fighting strategy is punching/kicking the opponent until they are back a far amount. While they recover from their injury, he turns around. He then waits until they are close. He next uses his "Fart" attack. The "Fart" attack defeats the opponent easily, as the smell is an instant knock-out.
